Cheilanthes lanosa, commonly known as the Hairy Lip Fern, or the Woolly Fern is a small, xeric, perennial fern that is native to the Central and Southeastern United States.

Botanically reclassified in 2013 as Myriopteris lanosa, it stands out from typical woodland ferns due to its exceptional drought tolerance and its ability to thrive in full sun.

Grows 6-123 inchs tall and spreads slowly via rhizomes up to 12-15 inches wild.

The foliage is evergreen in mild climates, and during severe dry spells, the leaves will curl up and appear dead.  These leaves will quickly revivie and uncurl once the water returns.
