Ilex × attenuata 'Eagleston', commonly known as the Eagleston Holly, is a popular evergreen hybrid holly that grows as a large shrub or a small, elegant tree. A natural cross between the American Holly (Ilex opaca) and Dahoon Holly (Ilex cassine), it features a distinct pyramidal growth habit, glossy dark green leaves, and an abundance of vibrant red berries that persist through the winter.

It typically grows to a mature height of 15 to 25 feet with a spread of 8 to 14 feet, making it a highly desirable choice for privacy screens, hedges, or structural landscape accents.

This shrub produces a heavy crop of bright red, round berries from mid-fall through the late winter.  Eagleston is a female cutivar and requires a male pollinator nearby to set the fruit.

Eagleston is a moderate to fast grower, growing 12-24" per year depending on the conditions.

It grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers rich, consistently moist, well-drained acidic soil.

It requires regular watering during its first year to establish the root system.  Once they are established, it is moderately drought-tolerant, but benefits from deep watering during dry spells.

Host plant for various Lepidoptera, including the Henry's Elfin Butterfly, and the Holly Azure Butterfly. 

Specialist bees relies heavily on this species for nectar and pollen.
