Magnolia ashei, commonly known as Ashe's magnolia or dwarf bigleaf magnolia, is a rare, deciduous large shrub or small understory tree. Endemic strictly to the Florida panhandle, it is considered one of the rarest native magnolia species in North America. It is celebrated for its massive, tropical-looking leaves and giant, highly fragrant spring blooms.

This magnoia grows to 10-15' with a broad, rounded canopy.  It begins blooming at a very young age.

This tree prefers partial shade to a sheltered, dappled understory.  It requires rich, moist, well-drained acidic soils.

Host plant for the Eastern Tiger, the Spicebush Swallowtail and the Sweetbay Silkmoth.
