Sisyrinchium nashii 'Suwannee' (commonly known as Suwannee Blue-Eyed Grass or Nash's Blue-Eyed Grass) is a compact, floriferous native perennial selection discovered by plantsman Charles Webb along the limestone banks of the Suwannee River in Florida. Despite its common name, it is not a true grass; it is a diminutive member of the Iris family (Iridaceae), which is reflected in its narrow, sword-like fans of foliage. This specific cultivar is highly regarded for being tidier, denser, and significantly more heavy-blooming than the straight native species
Grows to 8-12" tall and wide and blooms in the late spring into early summer.  This is a long blooming plant, usually blooming for six weeks or more.
This species is very adaptable, and will grow in full sun to partial shade.  It prefers average, moist, well-drained soils. While it appreciates consistent moisture while establishing and blooming, it is remarkably drought-tolerant.
Note:  to maintain long-term vigor, clumps should be divided every thick years.  Avoid thick layers of mulch directly over the crown to prevent crown rot.
This is a great choice for borders, edges, or rock gardens and is deer and rabbit resistant.
