Aesculus parviflora, commonly known as the bottlebrush buckeye, is a dense, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub native to the woodlands of the southeastern United States.
It is widely celebrated as one of the best summer-flowering shrubs for shaded landscapes, earning prestigious accolades like the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
This shrub grows 6-12' tall and 8-15' wide and does well in partial shade to full shade. It can tolerate full sun if the soil is kept consistently moist.
It prefers rich, organic, well-drained loams that are slightly acidic.
