Foam Flower (Tiarella cordifolia) ‘Running Tapestry’ spreads vigorously by stolons to form a ground cover, but will also agreeably mingle with other shade-loving woodland plants, to form a lovely tapestry. Leaves are deeply dissected, with rusty red markings around the veins and good fall color. Spikes of delicate, white, starry flowers rise above the low mat of leaves in spring, attracting pollinators. Discovered by native plant grower Jim Plyler of Natural Landscapes Nursery. Foam Flower blooms with our native Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) in spring and combines well with clump-forming Sedges (Carex spp.) and Jacob’s Ladder (Polemonium reptans).
Host Plant for the Gray Hairstreak, Mourning Cloak, Eastern Commas, Question Mark, and Exclamation Points butterflies.
