Cherokee Sedge-is a tough heat tolerant sedge. These plants propser in shade or partial shade, but will also grow successfully in sun. Moist soil is preferred, but plants will tolerate average soils, drought, and wet sites. Cherokee Sedge is a valuable groundcover or edging plant for a shade garden. This Sedge is a great native substitute for the popular non-native groundcovers Liriope muscari and Ophiopogon japonicus.

Host plant for Skipper and Satyr butterflies and the seeds are relished by birds and turtles.
